Bookmakers to donate all profits from Royal Ascot race to celebrate King’s Coronation

To celebrate the King’s Coronation, many British bookmakers will donate profits from the Britannia Stakes race to chosen charities.

The Royal Ascot will take place on 22 June 2023.

The bookmakers that have agreed to donate their profits are Betting & Gaming Council (BGC) members: Betway, bet365, Bet with Ascot, Entain, Fitzdares, Flutter, Kindred, LivescoreBet, Rank Group, Tote, Virgin Bet, William Hill and 888.

Some of the charities that will be receiving donations off the back of the Britannia Stakes race are: Ascot Racecourse Supports, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, poker machine gratis Holocaust Educational Trust, SAS Regimental Association, SportsAid and Together for Looking After Children.

Last year’s donations raised £1.2m, and if bookmakers fail to make a profit on the race, each has agreed to make a combined donation of £250,000 to be split among the charities.

Michael Dugher, CEO of the BGC, said: “I am once again delighted that the BGC’s largest members are helping celebrate the King’s Coronation by raising vital funds at the Royal Meeting for some of the country’s top charities.

“It is also a fitting tribute to the Late Queen Elizabeth II whose passion for horse racing was renowned, having bred multiple successful horses and clocking up 1,800 winners in her time.

“Tens of millions of people up and down the country enjoy a flutter each month, and I’m proud that betting companies will once more donate their profits from one of Royal Ascot’s top races, the Britannia Stakes, to go towards some great charities. I am once again indebted to everyone at Ascot for their continued support.”
